I'm glad to hear that a large Crafty opening book does exist somewhere. Unfortunately, I am a mere user who does not have the computer knowledge and skills taken for granted by experienced computer programmers. Doing what you suggest is trivial for almost everybody here at CCC, but it is beyond my capabilities. I tried once, and became extremely frustrated and almost shot myself. Finally I discovered that the chessbase products do not require any computer-related expertise. Maybe that's why they are so successful in business! The same could be said for the people who created and sell Chessmaster 9000. [The only thing wrong with Chessmaster 9000 is that it's strength is unmeasured and hence unknown.] Bob D. > > >> >>My understanding is that Crafty doesn't really have a conventional opening book. >> Instead, it has an anti-human book optimized for use on ICC. >> > >Not at all.
