Nothing of what I suggested promoted a competitor's product.

Some current chess software is fully interoperable, and some isn't.  This is
partly a technical issue, but I think it's more of a business decision.
Ultimately, companies have to satisfy their customers, or customers will
purchase software from their competitors.  This is why I suggested that users
who care let the companies they buy products from know that they care.

I'm not sure if you recall the formation of the PGN standard here many years
ago, organized by SJE.  If you do, perhaps you also recall the public lambasting
that was received by commercial software developers whose new products did not
support it.  PGN support is ubiquitous today because users demanded it!

Your last sentence doesn't make sense to me -- I don't wish to "direct" anybody.
 It's up to people to decide for themselves what is important to them.  If they
don't care about it, fine, they can continue to accept poor interoperability and
its consequences.
