(2) There is an appearances problem. A popular chess engine programmer claims to have quit this bulletin board and one could easily assume that "It was all Vincent's fault." That makes the "banning" look like retaliation rather than justifiable punishment. Appearances are everything!!!! The fact of the matter is that this is a FREE bulletin board. Think about that! I would like to see CCC get back to many almost unbelievable discussions of the gory details of exotic esoteric obscure [and sometimes misguided?] chess engine programming issues but I don't pay to occupy this bulletin board either! I guess it's "take what you get and like it." Really, CCC is a nice place. Besides, it's fun. There is an element of risk which makes it exciting. If you don't play the game right you can get suspended. So it becomes a game to see "how far can the moderators/owners be pushed before they'll react?" It's sort of like the interractions between teenagers and parents. Bob D.
