There appear to be two concerns regarding the "banning" of Vincent:

(1) Some people wish to negotiate a change in moderator procedure, and there is
nothing wrong with negotiation, public or otherwise.

(2) There is an appearances problem. A popular chess engine programmer claims
to have quit this bulletin board and one could easily assume that "It was all
Vincent's fault." That makes the "banning" look like retaliation rather than
justifiable punishment. Appearances are everything!!!!

The fact of the matter is that this is a FREE bulletin board. Think about that!

I would like to see CCC get back to many almost unbelievable discussions of the
gory details of exotic esoteric obscure [and sometimes misguided?] chess engine
programming issues but I don't pay to occupy this bulletin board either! I
guess it's "take what you get and like it."

Really, CCC is a nice place. Besides, it's fun. There is an element of risk
which makes it exciting. If you don't play the game right you can get
suspended. So it becomes a game to see "how far can the moderators/owners be
pushed before they'll react?" It's sort of like the interractions between
teenagers and parents.
