Hi Tony, well done! I think it is important that SSDF tests CM9000, but it has to be CM9000 entirely. I think to test the programs as they are it is most important to SSDF as people want to know how good is a specific program that they can buy. Tests of mixed parts of programs can be done by individual people that are willing to test "crazy" things. I think the SSDF list is too important as it is and to change things may will destroy it and this would be a pity for all true chess programs lovers like myself. Some people misunderstood my statements againt testing mixed programs like being worry of something like first place on SSDF list or things like that. This can happen only because they do not know me. When I was telling about rules I mean a competition within rules. If CM9K is stronger than Shredder 7.04 than it should be the new no. 1; if it is not Shredder 7.0 will remain the new one until a stronger program will become available. If I play chess and the rules say that if you touch a piece that piece must be moved I will move it even if I realize that that will cost me the game or resign immediately. If the opponent does not (will try to move a different piece or ask to make a different move) I will stop the game immediately because that is not chess anymore unless we agreed differently. If my opponent is playing well I will try to get him crazy at least twice before I resign resign, but if he plays stronger I will be the first one to sincerely compliment him when the game will be over. This is how I am and this is how it should be to compete within rules. Thanks again for the right decision and long life to SSDF! Ciao Sandro
