Also, a google search (on groups) finds some interesting posts: http://groups.google.de/groups?q=6r1%2F2rp1kpp%2F2qQp3%2Fp3Pp1P%2F1pP2P2%2F1P2KP2%2FP5R1%2F6R1+&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=de&btnG=Google+Suche Especially the message from Richard A. Fowell I can remember. At that time, I already had a chess engine (totally private). I had no contact to any computer chess scene. But what Richard wrote: --- Certainly, Shirov put his foot in it when he said that computers wouldn't find the forced mate in: 6r1/2rp1kpp/2qQp3/p3Pp1P/1pP2P2/1P2KP2/P5R1/6R1 w - - id "Shirov 1"; bm Rxg7; --- somehow impressed me (and also the solution time of his engine - MacChess). This is the earliest time that I can remember, when I read about cbess engines in a newsgroup. I did not know about Fora at all then. Regards, Dieter
