You give a weird twist to a statement about technical specs. I can't remeber referring to an obligatory spending of hunderd bucks for a new OS. Your feelings about the futility of an expensive OS update for just the use of a feature in _one_ probably buggy program doesn't make WMP9 run under Win98FE. Joseph wanted to run WMP9 under an old version of Win98, with which he _probably_ didn't mean "the Win9x kernel", but Win98FE. If he has 98FE and _if_ he is determined to run it, FE won't let him to. To run WMP9 you have to use 98SE and higher; it's a technical issue, not a choice. I then added: as it is not possible to upgrade online (through the Windows Update site) to SE (it is a different build) it means that **if** you want to run WMP9 you have no choice but to upgrade to SE. In that case it _might_ well be better to take the step to XP immediately, save for your hardware specs, which seems to be a bit minimal in his case. J.
