Go up one level in this thread

Djordje,

I don't really want to comment on the precise issues in this thread but one
point to note - ICD host this forum. To their credit they do not use the forum
for direct commercial gain e.g. we don't see the "Friday - Deal of the Week"
messages from Steve Schwartz. So it seems a little "off" if someone else uses
this forum to promote a product from which they *may* receive commercial benefit
from and who ICD will certainly not receive any financial gain e.g. Ruffian
Arena. This may be why some are so snappy when they see a post that seems to be
commercial. Clearly it's a fine line as most people here want to hear about all
the available chess programs and not just the ones sold by ICD e.g. Tiger or
Genius for the Palm. Having hung round here for a couple of years it would seem
that the acceptable posts seem to have a 'matter-of-fact' content e.g. "Here a
nice game by XYZ program against Shredder / Fritz" followed by the PGN. This
type of post is seen as less commercial than, "XYZ would make a nice Christmas
Present" without any backup in terms of results or PGN.

I'm not trying to critical - I hope this is helpful,

Regards,

Steve
