If you use notepad, it is pretty common to sneak by with the last line missing the CR/LF. I read the crafty.rc file, but when I read the last line with no CR/LF, it sticks in the buffer and whatever comes in next gets concatenated to it. Which wrecks the last command in the crafty.rc file, as well as the first command sent after that, usually the "xboard" command. That will generally make things hang.
