Looking at your text _I_ see the following: Shredder 7 ONLY a mate in 9 in 40 seconds (not the shortest!) Ruffian 1.0.5 a mate in 8 in 129 seconds (the shortest?, the only?) Chess Tiger 14.0 ONLY a mate in 9 in 16 seconds (not the shortest!) ChestUCI Ver.2.7 the shortest and only mate in 9 in 349 seconds I hope you understand, what I want to say with it: You are comparing absolutely different things - a mate solver searches for the _shortest_ mate and for _all_ solutions, where a normal chess engines finds _any_ mate (if at all). So the ´solutions´ of Shredder7 and CT14 are not really ones; Ruffians solution is ok, but you can´t be sure if this is the shortest (and the only) one - and so the time difference between Ruffian and Chest isn´t really dramatically. Btw., one way to eventually solve this problem faster could be to increase the hash size, but only if the hash usage (in ChestUCI) is growing up to 100% (and if you have more RAM, of course). Best regards, Franz.
