You want someone to play for the love and respect of the sacred game of chess, and that is niave. If there was not big money to be made by chess professionals, they would all be doing something else with their lives. It is quite possible that it is a tragedy that these great minds are used for chess and not something useful. You can disagree now, and say that so and so would never do this or that, but a lot of people would be singing a different tune if there was no money to be had in playing chess. Chess is a game, yet you want people to play it as if they were in a war for their freedom. No one would refrain from offering a draw in a won position if their life depended on it (well, maybe Fischer). >her rating might not be as high as GONZO'S but the match would certainly have >FAR more appeal.. That's very clever, calling him Gonzo, but it really doesn't do anything to discredit him, and just makes you look kind of immature.
