there is Rebel, CM9K ("The King Engine"). Hiacrs 9 and Rebel 12 play most
unlike other engines. "The King" is the fastest mate searcher typically. Tiger
plays strong throughout the entire games and has good position scores. Shredder
7.04 may be the strongest in Computer vs Computer play.
Some of these engines will work in Chessbase GUI, some will not.
If I had to pick one most unlike other engines - it would be Hiarcs. If I
wanted the one that played most like a strong human, it would be Rebel 12. If I
wanted to beat somebody's else computer, it would be Shredder 7.0.4. If my
computer had a slow processor, I would pick Tiger 15. If I was using the engine
to find mates, it would be CM9K and if I wanted to win a game once in a while,
it would be the Lokasoft Chess Partner Standard engine.
