The top programs are indeed GM strength but they aren't in the 2650-2800 range. Despite Rebels impressive play against Anand, i think the progs would be fairly hard pressed(at least to win-some draws though) at 40/2 against any of the top 20 players. But just against the run of the mill GM the comps would at least hold their own. Still the comps might lose the match, depends on who the GM's are. Meaning no 2300 GM's that lose matches to 15 year old girls(Arthur Bisguier), title doesn't matter as much as the rating. Comps in my oppinion rank about 2500-2550 ELO. Though Shroeders ECO and Anti-GM approaches could have a special positive effect i'm not sure, also I think progs need some special handling concerning which openings to play as was done with fritz in that rapid tourney held by Siemens. The Kryon 450s wouldn't hurt one bit either :). Comps are GM strength, don't confuse with "Super GM" strength, i mean heck, Kasparov plays teams of grandmasters without too much problem :), Anand, Kramnik, and perhaps 1 or 2 others could do the same.
