Hi Thomas,

a nice and friendly invitation :-), very difficult to turn down. I really wish
I could come, and I just would have made it had Ruffian been taking part. But,
as it is, I am home writing a book on proverbs and metaphors, trying to find
universals in some Indo-European languages. Although I am on my Sabbatical, I
have classes with post-graduate students every Friday and Saturday.

I am sure that I would enjoy playing chess with you(no computer assistance, I
promise!), but I think that Quark would be a more interesting opponent. Why?
Because HE is the essence of you, plus a bit of silicon...

As for my hobby, besides the book I mentioned, I am also working on a book for
Ruffian and also testing our home made program, Axon, which has finally managed
to score over 290/300 on WAC at 5 seconds per move :-)

About Graz: Per-Ola said that he too would like to be in Graz, but he moved to
Stockholm about three weeks ago, got a new job there and it is virtually
impossible for him to travel now. He just started working there... He was
without an Internet connection for a while too. Besides, a new, multiprocessor
version of Ruffian is currently being tested. I think that I will give it a try
on our University quad machine one day...

Wish you a nice tourney! And, I am sure that Quark will give a _hard_ time to
many favourites and even make some of them feel a little bitter.
So will Hossa :-) Please convey my warm regards to Steffen Jakob.

Best regards,

Djordje
