It will certainly be very difficult for Kasparov to win his match against X3D Fritz now. Who was the last human to beat a computer in a match? In April of 2002 GM Smirin won the match against 4 different computer opponents. I'm not sure if this counts as a single match or four different matches. Prior to Smirin, do we have to go all the way back to Kasparov vs. Deep Blue 1?
