It seems to me that Fritz is getting too much criticism for this game. It is an
already well known fact that if you manage to turn the game into a purely
strategic battle, with the decisive plans beyond the horizon of computers, you
can play as if your opponent is a 2000 rated player (King's Indian is the best
example).

I was analyzing yesterday's game with Fritz, Shredder, Junior, and Falcon. Fritz
and Shredder seemed to think that black had compensation for the lost pawn, when
it clearly didn't. Junior and Falcon clearly favored white, but I doubt whether
they could have saved the game as black either.

And of course as humans we do have a good deal of anti-machine prejudice. I
don't think there were more than a handful of people hoping for a machine
victory.
