Am I the only one who thinks the GUI of a chess program is completely
unimportant?  I would actually pay more for a text-mode and/or winboard
version of Ferret than for a version with its own GUI.

Rubbish.  I bet most people have never even tried out most of the features
in programs like Junior 5 or CM6K.
