Computers and humans may have different styles - but, when all is said and done,
chess is chess - however the move is generated.

Each extra ply of search programmers manage to squeeze out of the time available
brings us closer to the magic level of approximately ELO 3600, at which all
chess games will be drawn - no matter how good the opponent (evidence:
http://math.bu.edu/people/mg/ratings/Draws.jpg ).

Where it might be detrimental is in terms of fun. The programs that are the most
fun to play against are not the ones that top the SSDF list. In my experience,
the most fun is to be had by playing the old program CS-Tal.
