You can, but it is not practical for long trips. You know, Europe is
geographically not as small as many people think. To go from Göttingen (where I
live) to Zürich (a much shorter trip than from Brussels to Graz) the most
practical is to take the train to Hannover and then the plane to Zürich. I think
even to München it is better to fly for me.

I am sure there are simpler routes. I mean, from Göttingen I can take a direct
train to Zürich and even to the big cities in north Italy (not that it makes
sense since that is quite far, but some people do it).
