It was essentially Deep Fritz 8 running on a quad 2.8 GHz mpu machine -
utilising the X3D stereo screen technology. The program had been tweaked
specifically to play against Kasparov together with a specially selected opening
book. The programmers were allowed to tweak the program and or opening book
between games.
