A) Are people not going because they don't care about becomming world champions?
B) Or don't people care about becomming world champions because they can't go?

Definitely some kind of automation, kibitzing also as in CCT.
Perhaps make it mandatory to hand over the logs, maybe the top 3 finishers
should send a copy of the binary, for closer inspection in case of suspected
fraud (a doping test:).

I think this is the kind of problem we can solve if there is willingness to do
so.

CC folks are a rare breed, scattered thin very thin in the US.

The remarkable thing isn't that they don't do in-person tournament, the
remarkable thing is that they have actually done it at one point in the past.
