Subject: Can someone explain this notation?

I have seen posts here that describes a chess position, for example:

r4r1k/pp1qp1bp/2p1n1pn/3pP3/3P1P1N/2P4Q/PPNB4/R4RK1 w - -

How do I read this so I can set it up? Thanks for any help.
