    Hi Omid,

I agree, we should get sponsorship and have it here.
However, I see multiple issues here; not just a NA WCCC.
         1) Many other countries (some smaller than many of the individual
states of the US) have their own championships.
         2) There is a lot gained from meeting people face2face.
         3) There are relatively few programs from the NA considering the
            land mass and population size.
         4) Interest in US Chess (human & computer) seems dropping.

Given that the Man-Machine matches get great ratings something more
public and more often may revive US interest. Thus, a yearly WCCC
(no matter where it is) and a NACCC (both very public) could help.
Increasing the number of events and making some of them very easy to
    attend should spawn more interests/activity.

      Some far reaching thoughts:
o state tournaments would be nice.
o two internet tournaments a year
               both authors only(world attendance)
               maybe only one world attendance.
o easier acceptance of computers in human tournaments
o Annual face2face meeting -- may be a tournament or just a conference
I beleive there is an annual conference in Canada.
o Some sort of annual fund for research.
o Blitz as well as long TC's. Seems the public might find G/15 more
             enjoyable to follow.
o uniform platform for fast TC's and unlimited for the slower TC's.

The most watched sports are the ones with long seasons not just 2 events
     a year.
o A computer (and human?) chess league with matches every weekend.
Each opponent has one match per weekend. Each match has multiple
games. For spectator purposes, say G/15. How long does an individual
           tennis game (not match) last?

o Maybe multiple leagues split by world geography with the leaders of
each region meeting at the end of the season.

       Lots more could be listed.

   Charles
