I believe if you reinstall from CD it goes back to 8.0.0.5, while 8.0.0.8 was an
intermediate update version. So there's apparently no way to get 8.0.0.8 unless
you happened to download that update and saved a copy. I didn't save a copy, and
can no longer find the 8.0.0.8 engine version anywhere.

Of course I agree with your comments in general, but note that the
Fritz/Chessbase programmers are probably NOT listening to us. For example I sent
them a list of bugs in their Oct 2003 GUI update, which were NOT fixed in the
more recent Nov 2003 update. There are some Fritz GUI bugs going back several
years which they simply ignore despite repeated bug reports to them. So I doubt
that it does any good whatsoever to complain. Unfortunately they are not on our
wavelength. I imagine the reason is probably arrogance, but I don't know.
