Frank Quisinsky pointed out lately, that there was someone in the Arena-forum
who said that he could make Arena work under Linux. Maybe that's of help for
you.

The reason why I asked about native Linux engines to use in Arena is simple: if
everything I run are Windows-binaries, I would simply use Windows directly. But
that's just my opinion. :) Of course as an engine author I would like to be able
to use Arena too for my Linux-engine and not have to install VisualC++ as well
(which is not free) etc. So I'd have to migrate the development to Windows too
and then it's kinda silly to boot Linux in the first place. :) For non-authors,
the last argument doesn't count of course.

Thanks for the hint! I will give it a try this evening.
