I am about doing the same. Gerbil's site is almost self sufficient
about 0x88 attacks. The non-sliding pcs almost trivial.
the b/r/q needs to determine if sq1, sq2 is a b/r path using
ray[128 + sq2 - sq1] & tBISHOP...  then getting the steps size to slide
thru with step[128 + sq2 - sq1] .... no short-cut. This may be one of the
most efficient chess representation mtthod. I am now adding attacks
for the xside , no short-cut. Read Ed Schroders article.
