It depends on who is putting up the money or personal time.

From the perspective of others, it is good that these guys produced Brutus
because they are "showing the way" for future programmers.  [Let's hope they
publish!] As new hardware becomes available, it will be easier to produce the
"next generation Brutus" [using "lessons learned"].

Every coin has two sides.
