First, you had LaPetite and Voyageur. That sort of screwed it up for the others. Problem is, there is so much more reference material available on the web for creating a good chess program. So, you have these newbie chess programs that reach 2500 Elo within a year's time. Inevitably, people start casting aspersions on the program. Ruffian is a good example. Is there anyway a program could be created which could check if a chess program is a Crafty clone or not??? Regards, Rick
