i like your idea of "eye-browsing". e.g. the ICGA could suggest that they want
to look at your move generator, or at your alphabeta routine, or at your
evaluation - it has been suggested that many filenames in list are the same as
in crafty, so they could say they want to look at those files.

first, they would check out the corresponding parts in crafty, then they could
sit down and look at your source for a couple of minutes.

if it's not a clone, that should be very clear with such an inspection.
if they are still not convinced, they could grill you further.

such a quick test would certainly be good enough to remove a groundless
accusation. it also seems to me that nobody looking at my source code for 5-10
minutes would get any idea whatsoever what my program is doing :-)
