>>Really, and now we know the that report was wrong, Ed checked it out and found >>no problems with it. >To my knowledge, Ed did not test the autoplayer, because he never had it. >Ed has been told that Rebel has sometimes been prevented from saving its games. >He tried to figure out if this could have hurt Rebel's learning feature. >He thinks that it has not hurt Rebel's learning algorithm. >That's all. I hope Ed can confirm this. If I am wrong, I have to be corrected. Let me first say that I regret I have participated in this discussion which started 8-9 months ago. Instead of making things clear there is only more confusion. I think the main reason for the confusion is lack of knowledge what autoplayers are and what they do and how FRAGILE the protocol is in terms things that (unintentionally) may go wrong and may hurt the other program. Looking back at the ongoing discussion of 8-9 months the above point has had very less attention while this the "heart" of the whole discussion but is not recognized as such. Having noticed this I dropped the whole issue a few months ago as a lost case and being pointless to discuss further. Meaning to say I don't want to participate in autoplayer discussions anymore. However I will respond if people make "untrue" statements on me like I did a few days ago when Thorsten did so. Now to the topic in question and I hope once and for all.... #1. I never have (had) the secret Fritz5 autoplayer (F5A) #2. I knew somebody who had one. #3. I mailed this person a special Rebel with some debug code. #4. From the information I got back it showed that the F5A a clean communication protocol for the moves. #5. The special Rebel was also tested on other programs. They all reported a clean communication of the moves. However and here starts the confusion, the communication of moves between two Pc's is just ONE aspect of an autoplayer. My OTHER complaints are just as valid as they were 8-9 months ago. I am not in the mood to repeat them as it is proven pointless as it is my opinion only few people here have the knowledge to talk and judge about it. I am very well aware this is an arrogant statement but I am well prepared to receive the flames for my arrogance in return. I only should have recognized that the topic is too complex in the beginning when the topic started which I did not and which I regret now. So Christophe you may consider to save yourself some trouble but maybe you have better explanation qualities I have. - Ed -
