I think Mathieu's suggestion is one good solution. Most people post on one topic
mainly (for instance, I like the programming aspect of computer chess), so their
posts would be mainly only in one section. Plus there would be fewer posts in
each section, making it more readable.

Another idea might be to "flatten" the threads. Currently we have something like
this:

Thread1
 Re: Thread1
 Re: Thread1
  Re: Thread1
   Re: Thread1
 Re: Thread1
Thread2
 Re: Thread2
Thread3
Thread4
 Re: Thread4

And so on. It might make it more readable to not show the sub-threads on the
main page (flatten them). Then you would only see:

Thread1
Thread2
Thread3
Thread4

Then your screen would be less cluttered. You could click on the thread to go to
it.

An idea that would be a more significant undertaking would be to setup a
newsgroup server to mirror CCC, which would allow you to read it as any other
newsgroup, and filter things however you'd like.

One quesiton I have for you: If you had a particular poster ignored, would you
want to see the responses to posts made by that person?
