If I am in check, I see immediatelly how many legal moves I have left, and can extend if it is only 1 or 2 or whatever my flavor of forcing check extension. While with your type of legal move generation, the first move I try might be indeed singular, but I dont know that yet since I falsely believe I have two legal moves. This is of course far less relevant if I do singular extensions or something such which , of course, produces its own overhead Georg
