I doubt, too. But whats speaking against making trials using ideas of crafty in
early versions? Or using some less important parts in early versions? Is this
making a clone or a crafty-based version?

Mathias Wüllenweber wrote in CSS 5/02:
"Der veröffentlichte Code von Crafty hat zur Verbreitung von parallelen
Schachprogrammen beigetragen.... es bedeutet eine immense Starthilfe, sich mit
einem gut funktionierenden Verfahren kritisch auseinanderzusetzen."

I am shure that every new programmer will do so - and why not? Therefore its
public - isn´t it.
I am sure M.Feist and M.Wüllenweber did it before trying Deep Fritz, too. But it
doesn´t mean that they are cloning the programm.
And why should every programmer doing well done things againt and again when
generell ideas are public - like WB-Connection, UCI, TB-Support, maybe
timeparts, Hashtables ... what is allowed what forbidden? Where is border?
