I assume you mean a floppy disk, right?

Why would it not work in principle by burning the files onto a CD-ROM?

I guess I'll get a pal to attach an external floppy, or scrounge around, funny
how vendors remove the connector for the floppy along with the 2 or 3 jumpers to
us dumb customers.
