Let me be more specific, since it was apparently not clear enough: "the people running the tournament in Graz were a bunch of [BLEEP]ing idiots". Most of that falling squarely on the TD I assume, although I was not present. > >I know you know the I in ICGA and the W in WCCC. Yes. "I" somehow equates to "European".. This organization is _really_ the ECGA, not the ICGA. And the WCCC is really the ECCC. World events are held all over the world. Continental events are held on a specific continent. >And I hope you know that 98% of this world's population does not care about >TG-day, nor about I-day, nor about Halloween, nor about UAb classes. This isn't about "UAB classes". It is about taking off for 1.5 weeks from _any_ job, spending a lot of money to trave, for room and food, and doing it _every_ year/ every 3 years, since these events are _never_ held outside Europe. There are other continents on this planet. But my stand here is well known and won't change anything, except that something will come along to replace ECGA with something containing a real I.. even if I means Internet. > >Think about the math: there's no way you can schedule an event without depriving >at least someone of his favorite cultural event with only 365 >weeks in a year. For 1-day weeks that is. That is only a small issue. July 4 is minor. 1.5 weeks is major. Flying half-way around the world to attend any ECGA event is expensive. _those_ are the main points. Let's not turn this into a holiday issue exclusively. However, holidays _are_ important. And it is not hard to make a list to include Christmas (world), Thanksgiving (USA), July 4 (USA), Boxing Day (England at least, don't know how widespread), and so forth. Mark those days _OFF_. There are plenty left. And there are other holidays that need to be avoided from other countries as well. Conferences do this _all_ the time. The ECGA could also, with a little thought. > >>No doubt the 2005 event will be on December 25. > >An excellent excuse to avoid the end-of-year nuisance. > >>Is the ICCA going to supply flak jackets or do participants have to bring >>their own? > >You know damned well the ICGA can't afford to supply flakjacks for every >participant, and you know damned well that's the reason there will not be an >I or W event in the US. :-D Yes there is. Because the ECGA is really not interested in hosting an event over here, because suddenly _they_ might have to travel a bit more? But I'm not that concerned myself. The CCT events are growing in popularity and the ECGA events are waning. If nobody wants to turn that around, that is fine by me. > >... Johan
