I do not know comp rules well enough apparently. I did not realize 'engine-switching' was/is an ethical breech. My mistaken impression was that competition is the most rigorous form of engine testing, with ample opportunities for tuning and re-tuning, as is done in man-machine matches. Where can I study detailed engine tourney rules? BTW, I am a USChess Federation TD (not actively).
