There's 1 more option. 11 rounds+speedchess could be easily played in 6 days
rather than the 9 it took now.

At the dutch tournements the timecontrol is 90 min, you can play 3 rounds a day,
still have quality games, and play 11 rounds in 4 days.

The sad thing is, it has nothing to do with what the players like.

Think about it. The host has to pay 50,000$ (or whatever) for the event. What
are the extra costs for him to have the tournement last 8 days rather than 4 ?
Hardly comparable to the 50,000. Do you think he will pay the 50,000 for a 3-4
day event ? Of coarse not, since he has already paid the initial costs, it has
to last as long as possible.
