Hi Don, Forgive me, if I try to understand it one last time within my limited intellectual capabilities. Can't whatever you mentioned as problems be 100% checked with a protocol test program within Rebel which Ed Schröder described? - If the opponent exceeds the time within a margin of error, you print a warning in Rebel. - If the game terminates before a mate or theoretical draw, Rebel warns. - If any command is sent to Rebel which is not (as I wrote in the first post) 1. a move or 2. a 'new game' command in a position of mate or theoretical draw, you warn again. - If you receive a 'new game' command in a position of mate or theoretical draw you save the game yourself before executing the new game (as I suggested in the first post). Looks trivial to me and seems to cover all cases. I vaguely recall that Ed Schröder described that he did similar experiments with a tester who had the Fritz autoplayer and everything was fine. Jürgen
