I wasn't too convinced that my program was going to find anything by itself, so I started helping. After 35. Qb6 Qe7 36. axb5 Rab8 37. Qxa6 e4 my gut says that black has drawing chances due to the bare nature of whites king side. I plugged this position into lambChop for an hour and it of course wants to play Bxe4 - what do others play here? After 38.Bxe4 Qe5 it plays 39.Bf3 which looks reasonable to me. At this point I spent some time looking at 39...Qe3+ 40.Kf1 but black wasn't doing great. I then settled on 39...Re8. I played this as black vs. the computer at 30sec/move: 39...Re8 40.Kf1 Qh2 41.Re2 Rxe2 42.Kxe2 Re8+ 43.Kf1!? Bg3 44.Qa7 Qh1+ 45.Qg1 Qxg1 46.Kxg1 Re1+ 47.Rxe1 Bxe1 This leaves an opposite coloured bishops ending where black has good drawing chances. Of course, my program said +2 but what does it know :) Not the final word, but food for thought. cheers, Peter
