My Compaq Presario is provided BIOS updates (flashes) from Hewlett-Packard/Compaq in the form of ordinary executable .exe files. You just download them to the hard drive, doubleclick them, and the BIOS is updated thereby. No complications, no floppies. Works fine. I suppose that might require a particular kind of chipset or processor to work correctly, but I don't know. WP
