The stay and off-work time costs the same whether you traveled halfway round the world or whether you live 200km away. For Americans, the plane fare is 25%-35% of the total cost. For the remainder 65%-75%, it doesn't matter where you live. As an Israeli I need to spend 80% of what you would spend.
