This sounds to me like a variation on the theme of being so far behind that you
think you are ahead.

I think it is safe to say that Bob has logged more miles travelling to computer
chess events than you have, and that Bob was travelling around the world winning
WCCCs before you wrote the first line of Quark.

Since he hasn't been to an event in Europe since you've been participating the
last few years, then that means he is not willing to travel? How many times have
you travelled outside of your continent to compete in a computer chess event? He
has also travelled around the U.S. competing in ACM events. Travelling to those
would be about on par with you travelling from Nellmersbach to Maastricht or
Leiden. You can travel a long way and still not leave the U.S.

I think that you implying that Bob isn't willing to travel is a little bit of a
stretch :)
