You are thinking about this the wrong way. If you manage to find a prospective US organizer of the event, the chances are that his interest will drop to zero if it's not a world championship. You seem to think that a sponsor is someone that has x dollars to spare and no interest where it goes to: "Here's $100K. Either do an officially sanctioned world championship, or else do your own backyard tournament, buy everyone a plane ticket, free booze and give everyone a free computer system. It's all the same to me". Did you notice that early this year FIDE put up $1 million for the Kasparov - Deep Junior match ? But FIDE will probably not put up even $100 for a WCCC. X3D also put up a lot of organization money for the DJ & Fritz events, but they won't give a cent to a WCCC, and why should they ? Their business is selling 3D technology. Amir
