I don't think so.  It depends on the sponsor, and whether they can see a clear
need, and a useful place for the money to go.

No.  I think a sponsor is someone who has x dollars to spare and a *real*
interest in where it goes.  If they can't see where it's going or some real
reason that the money is needed, then they don't pay.  I don't blame them.  In
the case of the WCCC, there's no real reason why the ICGA requires $50k (when
they do none of the work and don't provide much for the competitors), so
companies don't pay.

They shouldn't, because with the way the event is (mis)handled by the ICGA,
there's not much reason for a company to sponsor it.  It would be like throwing
money into a wishing well, with no hope of ever getting a wish granted.
