hi franz,

you're welcome. i had to go through the same troubles as you did, and i was
happy to find a book where memory management under windows was described in
detail (programming applications for microsoft windows by jeffrey richter).
the real problem is that the official M$ documentation (visual C help, MSDN)
doesn't mention any limitations to malloc at all, so you're just confused as to
why it doesn't work...
