My relationship with Excalibur is this. 3 years ago I bought their LCD Chess computer. I liked it very much and posted a web page comparing it with GameBoy ChessMaster. The only reason I posted the page was so I wouldn't have to repeat myself in various internet postings. Ron Nelson spotted this and asked me if I wanted to be a "beta tester" for another upcoming handheld computer. I said sure. Since then I have "beta tested" a few of their chess computers. The only compensation is that I get a free computer now and then. That I do not make any money from Excalibur is not the whole story. If you look on my home page, you will see that I now have a paragraph regarding purchases from "The Chess Piece". If you go to my site, then click on one of my "Chess Piece" links (then buy something), I do earn a small commission from that sale. (This is all stated on my home page.) It's not a lot of money. (Maybe $50 a month on a "good month".) But it does provide incentive for me to continue to update the site. Note my Chess Tiger review and (upcoming) ChessGenius review do not in any way bring me income as these products are not purchased thru "The Chess Piece". Hope this clears up any confusion.
