x3d_fritz is a licensed version of fritz sold by the sponsor of the new york
city match x3d.com
the product sells for about the price of deep fritz but I believe it is merely
fritz_8 with the WM 8.0.26 engine. part of the component of the bigger price is
a pair shutter-style 3D glasses used to stereotize the DirectX_9 imaging of the
piece set.
When I last checked their shop at x3d.com, production was backlogged a few
weeks.
The product requires the owner to use an NVidia AGP Graphics card and a CRT to
enjoy the steroetized imaging of the chessboard.
Since the x3d company also sells customized game computers-- and they are only
single processor pentium4 machines-- we ought to infer that the x3d fritz is not
equivalent to the deep_fritz_8 which played in the x3d match until we hear
differently.
