Or just linux users? > No. Only if you are a non-X86 user. IE I had to do it because of the opteron issues. I have a structure called "BOOK_POSITION". On a 32 bit machine, its sizeof() is 20 bytes, but on a 64 bit machine, the compiler tries to align it on the native word size, which changes it to 24 bytes. It makes it impossible to read my current book format on the two different systems... >Will someone on a system like mine a P4 2.0 Ghz benefit from the new book? Not unless you choose to either use different raw input, or fiddle with the parameters used to build the book...
