My guess (and only a guess) is that winboard engines will be compatitable
(via the use of the adapter) with Fritz 32 bit and not the other way around.
This makes the most sense for chessbase.  They then have 16+ new engines
which work with the Fritz GUI with only the effort of producing the adapter.

I haven't read the chessbase comment, so I could be way out in left field
here.  This simply makes the most sense to me.
