Sorry to hear about the loss of your chess computer. I've had to repair couple of mine (much older chess computers than yours) and what usually goes is the 3 terminal voltage regulator IC. If your chess computer runs internally on 5 volts, the usual 5 volt regulator is a 7805. If your unit has one and you have a voltmeter handy you can measure the voltage going in ( greater than 8 volts) and the voltage coming out (5 volts). Good Luck Bill
