Subject: A ply depth vs. ELO question

Anyone ever estimated a correlation between ply look-ahead and ELO strength for
a typical computer/program? Also, as a beginner's learning tool, would setting
my computer to say 2-ply or 3-ply look-ahead be more benificial than perhaps a
straight 10 sec think time?
